Location Map

Almondbank House is situated on the A850 Portree to Dunvegan Road at Bernisdale, approx. 3 ½ miles from Borve Junction. Borve is four miles from Portree.

Bernisdale has three entrances, Almondbank House is situated adjacent to the middle junction.

We are centrally located approximately seven miles from the main village of Portree, the capital of Skye. Almondbank House’s central location makes a relaxing drive to most parts of the Isle of Skye. Donald John will be happy to discuss your proposed routes and advise you of places to visit on the Isle of Skye or in Lochalsh. We are a twenty-minute drive to Dunvegan Castle and the ferry terminal in Uig, should you choose to cross the water to the Outer Isles on your holiday.

If you want a total rest from travelling and choose to have a relaxing day at Almondbank House, garden furniture is provided for you within the grounds. On our doorstep is TV celebrity KC Mackinnon, who has appeared on BBC’s ‘One Man and his Dog’, KC has daily demonstrations with his Border Collies and of his stick making. There is also an exhibition of old Crofting utensils and machinery. KC’s demonstration has a slight twist to it as he uses sheep and ducks to demonstrate the skills of his dogs.

Within walking distance or a short drive is Skeabost House Hotel which has a licensed cocktail bar and a chance to mix with the locals in the public bar. Skeabost House Hotel provides golfing, fishing, billiards and Sky TV.
The Hotel serves excellent lunches and evening meals (formal dress for the dining room and a more casual dress for the conservatory),

To make the most of the fresh Skye air, stroll down the Croft for magnificent views over Loch Snizort and the magnificent Cuillin Range. If you are feeling brave, or want to rest your feet, experience scenic views from horseback at our local riding centre, the staff and ponies are very friendly and will ensure a quiet ride on the Native Highland Pony for non-experienced riders. Experienced Riders needs are catered for with some exhilarating rides on beautiful horses across the hills.
